You Know Things Are Too Stressful When…

When you spend an hour in The Chair at the dentist, and find it to be a comfortable, quiet place you can relax and not worry about work for a little while.

Embrace the Darkness

I’m not much of a fighter. I believe in what I think is right, but I detest conflict of any kind. Often, I find it easier to just go along with things rather than put up a show of resistance.

The cryptospam has been fighting the darkness for me, but lately its been losing the battles, like its getting tired, or the darkness is getting stronger.

I try and distract myself quite a bit, with snails, cameras, pointless blather. It works more or less, but is definately just a temporary measure. No matter what, at the end of the day, night always falls. And then all that’s left is to wait and hope that dawn will come again.

Sometimes though, I wonder if fighting is the answer. If it might not be better to just embrace the darkness and despair, take it, hold it, own it, make it mine. Then maybe I’d be in control of it, rather than running from it or hiding from it. Though that sounds like a scary journey, and I don’t know if I’m up for it.

Still, doing nothing doesn’t seem like a good choice either. Things are feeling less real, different. My skin doesn’t feel like my skin any more. My hair feels fake. My eyes look different.

Logically I ‘know’ that the more-likely explanation is the only thing that is changing is my perception, but perception guides experience and vice versa. Right or wrong, if you can’t trust your senses, then you no longer know what’s real.

I don’t know what to do about it all.

Bah! Humbug!

I just wanted to get in a pre-emptive strike.

Snails, Babies, More.

Just got home from a long, exhausting, stressful day at work, to discover that the second snail-egg-clutch was all busy hatching.

Lots of wee little snail babies in the breeding net. They all look like more golden babies, like the first lot.

I’m too tired though to get excited and take pictures and stuff.

More Obscure TV Trivia

Posted 2009.11.24 8.41 in Music/Movies/TV by Stephanie

Last night I had the TV on, providing some background noise, when I heard a commercial ask, “Do you have what it takes to run a TV station?”

I don’t know if they were advertising a new show, or a contest, or a video game, or whatever – after they asked the question my brain tuned it out as I immediately thought to myself, I have a wheelchair and a fedora – of course I have what it takes to run a TV station!

Then I thought to myself, woah that was an obscure TV reference.

So here we go:

  1. For 50 points, name the TV show I was thinking of when I thought I could run a TV station.
  2. A further 50 points will be awarded, if you can name the exact character on that TV show.
  3. Finally, there are 50 points for naming the actor who played the character on that show.

Ready? And…. go!

Always…

…check your boots for scorpions.

Even if there aren’t any scorpions where you live – when you check for scorpions you might also find other things, like spiders, coins, keys, mice, cat doots, et cetera.

Remember – it only takes a moment, and scorpion-stings can be fatal. You don’t want your last thoughts to be Oh dang, Stephanie was right!

This has been a public safety message.
