Blessed Samhain

Posted 2014.10.31 9.29 in Family/Friends, Spiritual by Stephanie

Wishing a blessed Samhain to everyone.

Tonight draws an end to the light half of the year, and begins the dark half; the veil between this world and the next will be at its thinnest. A time to think of our loved ones, and of those who have passed beyond.

Take care & blessed be.

Baking Magic

Posted 2014.10.28 18.40 in Pointless Blather by Stephanie

I’ve started making my own bread again.

It was at least 15 years ago when I first started making bread. Back then I didn’t have a machine for it. The machines existed but they seemed frivolous and expensive.

Eventually I did get a machine, 2 or 3 years ago. Made bread for a few months, then gradually stopped again.

Then about 2 weeks ago, I got the idea to try it again.

It’s one of those lessons I keep forgetting. Fresh, home-made bread is wonderful.

The machine is handy. There’s convenience to it. A lot less messy. And compared to store-bought factory made bread, bread machine bread is pretty darn good.

But doing it entirely by hand… it’s magical as well as wonderful.

I hate messes, I hate cleaning up, and I hate getting my hands dirty. But for scratch-made bread, it’s worth it. It really is.

Home-made bread fills me with joy.

It also feels like a kind of magic.

I mean how did they figure it all out? Grind the wheat into flour… mix it into rubbery dough. The yeast thing was nature’s doing, and probably quite hit-or-miss at first. Then the rising, the kneading, more rising, more kneading. Then baking. Then eating!

I just made a loaf of honey-bread. It’s just bread with honey added. Super simple. Water, salt, flour, butter, yeast, and honey. It’s all light and poofy and as soon as it was cool enough to touch, I couldn’t resist cutting off a piece to try it.

Home-Made Honey Bread

I don’t really have a point I guess. I just love making bread, it feels like a kind of kitchen magic, and I wanted to share my feeling of wonder.

Wicca Plus 3.1 Released

Wicca Plus v3.1

Wicca Plus version 3.1 has been released!

After iOS 8 was released, a bunch of ugly bugs turned up in Wicca Plus.

I had tested against one of the betas and didn’t find anything wrong, but in retrospect I had not tested thoroughly enough.

The fix is now finally out however. Wicca Plus version 3.1 works with iOS8 and iOS7, and is compatble with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

I apologize for the delay in getting this out to everyone.

If anyone is still seeing problems after upgrading, please join our support forum and let me know.

Wicca Plus is available on the App Store.

Missed It

Posted 2014.10.07 20.23 in Family/Friends by Stephanie

Yesterday was the 6th of October, and I sort of missed it. It came and went and I didn’t really pay it any attention.

It was a fairly typical Monday, I had typical Monday things to do, and a small deadline that held my attention for most of the afternoon and early evening.

When the 6th of September came along, I was acutely aware of it. I knew it was the 6th. I knew the 6th was coming. The 6th of August started ok but then snuck up and caught me unawares, an emotional sneak attack.

This thing with the 6th started in July of course. The 6th of July was a terrible day, the culmination of a week and a half of terrible days.

Anyways, so yesterday marked 3 months. A quarter of a year. And it didn’t clue in, nothing really came up.

I guess this is that thing where time heals and all that stuff.
