Knife-Making » Finished Knife Right

You can see the pewter at the far left did not come out perfectly. The end of the tang filled about half the opening of the hole and the pewter started to freeze as it passed over the tang. Consequently it was setting up before it had fully reached the other side of the hole. Once poured though, the pewter cannot be removed without damaging either the tang or the handle. The best option would be to drill it out, but the drill will hit the end of the tang. I was concerned that if the drill siezed on the steel tang, the handle could crack so I decided to just leave the pewter as it was.
