Lack of Posts

Posted 2017.07.07 8.37 in DID, Pointless Blather by Stephanie

I’ve been completely absent for months, sorry about that.

1) I’ve been focused mostly on health. Fitness. Became one of those people who watches everything she eats, and works out every single day.

I know, I’m shocked too. Now and then I stop and wonder who am I, and what have I done with the real Stephanie.

I’ve been writing a big long post about this (since January!) but I’m not ready to share it quite yet.

2) I’m more active* on Twitter, follow me there for ongoing proof of life.

(By ‘more active’ I mean, I post more than once every 6 months. I’m not tweeting nonstop all the boring minutia I encounter.)

Off the Face of the Earth

Posted 2014.12.27 8.26 in Pointless Blather by Stephanie

I haven’t actually dropped off the face of the Earth, though it may seem that way.

Dealing with issues and stuff. And work and stuff.

Also, working out logistics for a server move / migration. Possibly in the next week or two.

Definitely still here though.

Deleted Hospital

My local neighborhood hospital used to be right here.

Where’s at?

Posted 2010.09.03 12.00 in Aquaria, Computers/Internet/Technology by Stephanie

It’s been a full week now since the website went down. I’m experiencing withdrawl. I need my snail-based chat fix.

Other people have noticed it is absent too – there are threads at Fishlore and Arachnoboards asking after I don’t actually frequent either of those places, but my desperate Googling for related news found me those threads.

I miss all the regulars on the forum. I miss reading and talking snail exploits.

This morning when I woke up, I found one of my snails slowly sliming its way across my livingroom floor! I was shocked. Who can I tell about that? Where can I share pictures of baby snails?

I hope comes back soon. I hope it’s not a permanent problem.

If not, I wonder if there’s a way to hook up with all the people from there? Like an emergency-backup forum for staying in touch?

Uncategorizable Updates

Posted 2010.03.10 15.31 in Family/Friends by Stephanie

Uncategorizable because I don’t really know what sort of heading to use, or where to file them, or how to respond or react or what to do, really. Sometimes things happen and I guess reactions are deferred or just fail to trigger, because it’s either far enough outside the comfort-zone so as to be a bit un-processable, or gets lost somewhere between being startled and denial. Or, maybe I’m just a bad person and don’t know how to deal with stuff.

Anyhow, in the last month or so, my dad was diagnosed with cancer, but from the sound of it, they’ve found it early enough. There’s a lot of questions still. He’s going to have surgery to remove it, but first he might have chemo to shrink it, then radiation later. Or maybe there’ll be radiation first, and chemo after. Or maybe radiation and chemo first, and surgery later. As I said, lots of questions, particularily what’s and when’s.

Today they installed a valve in his arm so that they can plug the chemo in. I think they call it a pic line or a stint or something like that. 18 inches of tube though, they snaked in through a vein in his arm, leaving a little valve thingy on the outside. So he has that, but doesn’t know if they’re actually going to start the chemo this week, next week, come summertime, or whatever.

My dad seems fairly calm, but I’d like to have some of the whens and whats filled in.

The other wierdness is that my aunt has seemingly disappeared. She lives in BC so it’s not like we see her or speak with her too frequently, but from what I understand, she has vanished and been missing for several days now. My dad called the RCMP out in BC to ask them to start looking into the situation, but they have decided that she isn’t really missing.

Off The Face Of The Earth…

Posted 2006.12.18 1.00 in Pointless Blather by Stephanie

Is where I appearantly have disappeared to.

Sure, it’s the busy time of the year, between family get-togethers, crazy shopping, year-end work, all coming together to keep me busy most of the last week or so. And then when I have had spare time, I’ve been… hanging out in Second Life.

Yeah, it’s compelling. I’ve learned how to use the SL scripting language, and have honed my building techniques. Now I’m able to build things big and small, and make the things do stuff.

I’ve built and torn down a few houses. I’m on my 4th now, which I think will be a keeper. My house has teleport buttons to move from floor to floor, it has voice-activated locks on the doors, and voice-activated window tinting for privacy. There is a voice-activated light, which is also a security bot. It monitors everyone who comes by, and keeps track of them while I’m away. When I return, it tells me everyone that came by while I was gone.

I’ve made some furniture, with pose scripts. And I made a necklace, with a built-in radar function – on command, it tells me everyone within 40 meters of me (name and distance!).

Yeah, ok, it’s a bit addictive. There’s still so much more to build… I still haven’t mastered vehicles yet. I have a prototype flying carpet, it works, it just doesn’t work well yet. I’m about ready to set up a shop in there too, to start selling some of the things I’ve built. I figure there’s got to be a market for low-prim multi-purpose objects and gizmos.

So anyhow, that’s where I’ve been hanging out. My ‘virtual cottage’ in a virtual world.
