I discovered a bug in PassGenR today. 🙁

It’s an odd one – it did not exist in the iPod Touch, but it does occur on the iPhone. Both are running the same version too — 2.2.1 (the latest version).

It does prove the point that you really need more than one device to test on; ideally I guess someone would have both a 1st and 2nd generation iPod Touch, and a 1st and 2nd generation along with a 3G iPhone.

Then of course you’ll want to test on every available firmware version… sheesh. No wonder professional development is so costly.

Anyways, I was able to find and fix the problem in under an hour, and have sent the new binary to Apple for their approval process. Look for PassGenR 1.01 on the App Store sometime soon.

Liber Umbrarum Submitted

My second iPhone app, Liber Umbrarum, has just been submitted to the App Store.

The tentative release-date is set for April 30th, aka May-Day Eve, aka Bealtane.

I will follow-up with a confirmation and download link once it has been approved.

More Liber Umbrarum Progress

At long last, Liber Umbrarum is just about ready to go.

I’ve got just about all the graphics / images complete, fixed the last few minor functionality issues, and now it’s just a matter of doing the final debugging, editing and testing.

I’m going to try and get it submitted this week, and with luck it should be in the iTunes App store in time for Bealtane.

Liber Umbrarum Progress

I had a burst of energy last night and got the textual content about 75% completed. There is still a ways to go yet though, as there are a number of graphics and images I need to create.
I’m still anticipating another week or two before this one is completed.
The product page should be ready in a few days, along with some screenshots.

PassGenR Submitted!

Zowie!  I got the last issue solved super-fast, all my testing is complete, and now PassGenR is on its way.  I’ve sent all the meta-data along to the App Store, so now it’s just a matter of time.

I don’t know how long the process takes, and of course I’m assuming it will be approved as opposed to being rejected.  Still, it is an exciting moment.

Got my fingers crossed, now its time to go back to work on Liber Umbrarum…

Gearing Up for Distribution

My first two Apps (PassGenR and Liber Umbrarum) are both coming along nicely. PassGenR is in the final stages of testing now, and Liber Umbrarum is pretty much complete from a programming standpoint, all that remains is fleshing out all the content. Though that will be the more-time-consuming aspect, since when it comes to a book, content far outweighs the rest.

On the bureaucratic side of things, I’m all established with Apple for distributing free Apps via the iTunes App Store. The various hoops seemed a bit daunting but in the end it was not too difficult, and they do provide lots of howto information. Kind of exciting, being all registered and approved by Apple.

So there we are – I hope to have PassGenR submitted in the next few days, then we’ll see how long the process takes before it hits the virtual shelves. Liber Umbrarum will probably take another week or two before it’s ready to go.
