Bump in the Night

Ah the joys of things moving by themselves.

Sitting in my livingroom, in the dark, watching tv. The cats are both asleep – one on the sofa near me, the other in the bedroom.

Then I hear the sound of something moving, a little shhhhhhh noise from behind, followed by the slap of something hitting the floor.

Oh look! A package of film has been pushed off a shelf and fallen to the livingroom floor!

None of the other film has been disturbed. None of the cameras have been moved either, fortunately.

Just one little package of film, was slid off the shelf to fall on the floor.

That’ll give me something to think about when I try to go to sleep tonight.

Seeing Things

No, I’m not talking about a CBC television series from the 80s – not this time, anyways. Hallucinations maybe. Or possibly dust. Bugs? Orbs? Micro black-holes? Glitches in the time-space continuum?

I don’t know what they are, but they’re like little black pin-points, as if reality had got a kink in it and folded over on itself. A sort of moving 3d distortion. I haven’t seen any at work yet, but over the weekend I saw a few of them at home, 3 or 4 of them at least. Most were in the livingroom, one in my bedroom. In the daytime and at night.

They seem to travel in straight lines, they appear, move a distance, then vanish. They aren’t like eye-floaters, because if I see one out of the corner of my eye, I can turn my head and look at it without it moving away. I’m pretty sure they aren’t some optical wierdness happening inside my eyeballs.¬†They don’t exist long enough to grab for a camera though, they are too short-lived. Like only a second or two.

I don’t know what to make of them.

Stuff Moving By Itself Again

So I forgot to change my calendar yesterday. I looked at it, thought to myself yeah, I gotta change that to November. Then promptly forgot about it.

This morning when I woke up, went into the livingroom and found that my calendar had been changed for me — but not forward to November, it was backward to September. The little hole in the ‘October’ sheet is clearly torn, like it was pulled down off the hook rather than lifted up off the hook.

Have a look at the picture below, this is what I found this morning.

In addition, although you can’t tell from the picture, the three swords had been disturbed. The dual sword-holder had been shifted outwards away from the wall, and the sword laying ontop of the bureau had been shifted inwards towards the wall.

Now, one thing, or another thing, alone, I could come up with an explanation. Although I have never seen the cats ontop of the bureau, it’s possible that one could have gotten up there, and if one was up there, it’s possible she could have bumped the sword towards the wall. I don’t think they could have pulled the stand away from the wall though. And I don’t believe that they could have pulled a page down off the calendar. Indeed, there are no claw marks on the bureau at all.

This is not the first time something strange has happened with that spot of the livingroom wall. The hook from which the calendar hangs, used to hold a rather large painting. One afternoon I was in the livingroom but looking the other way, talking on the phone, when I heard a thump, and turned around to find the painting missing. I later found it hidden behind a chair about 5 feet from the spot where it had been hanging.

Another inexplicable spooky moment.

Calendar page pulled down, swords moved.
