Sattelite view of Waikiti (Updated!)

The images below are realtime sattelite views of my two regions in Second Life! Waikiti, the island on the left, was my first region, and Waiki Atoll, the group of islands on the right, were formed just recently!

Waikiti Mall

Elaborating a bit further from yesterday’s post…

The mall at Waikiti Island is actually built sort of like a big two story shack, made out of old wood and materials dating back to WW2. Weathered wood panels, rusty corrugated tin roof panels, and old dock posts give it a nice laid-back relaxed appearance.

In addition to the two indoor levels, there are a half dozen smaller stand-alone shacks, and some tables out in the open, where vendors may display and sell their wares. Rents are cheap, prim allowances are competitive, and the area is neither too busy nor too desolate — enough folk come to see the mall, without it being too crowded or laggy.

Waikiti Mall is the only part of the island were retail / commercial activities are permitted. The mall is not too big, offering a total of 12 indoor shops, 6 standalone shacks, and 10 table / stalls.

The mall is accessable by water, and overland, with direct teleport access to and from the beach / bar area.

If none of this makes a damn bit of sense to you — go try out SL, then come back here in a fortnight.

Beautiful Tropical Waikiti Island

Posted 2007.03.22 0.00 in Computers/Internet/Technology

Ok so I’m still in Second Life.

It’s addictive, habit forming, and gosh darn fun.

I’ve gone full force into it now — I’ve purchased an island! It’s very keen. I got to design the island, the landscape, give it a theme and style, give it a name, the whole shebang.

Waikiti Island is a tropical paradise, it is a middle-of-the-pacific kind of place, sort of a little Hawaii, a little Polynesia. The island is formed around an extinct volcano, and was once home to a completely nonexistant culture that I haven’t made up yet. It’s now home to a small community of people who like to get away from the hustle and bustle of mainland SL. There is a large public beach area (clothing optional) and a small retail district with a mall and some shops.

So, if you’re wondering where I’m at, I’m still in SL. Having fun, partying it up on Waikiti.
