Imbolc Update

Posted 2014.02.01 8.52 in Pointless Blather, Spiritual by Stephanie

The past six weeks, from Yule to Imbolc, have been pretty unpleasant here.

We had the ice storm, which led to damage to the house and a week-long power outage. My cats and I had to seek refuge with my sister. The house almost froze over while I was away and all my aquarium pets died.

Since the power was restored, my fridge has died, my furnace has needed work twice, the washer and dryer have needed attention, and the stairs to the cellar collapsed.

All in all, it’s been an unpleasant (and expensive) six weeks. Here’s hoping that things will improve between now and Ostara.

Looking ahead, I’m still working hard to get the update to Wicca Plus finished. It’s about a fortnight behind schedule due to the aforementioned issues, but with luck it should be completed shortly.

Wicca Version 3.5 Submitted

Posted 2013.09.12 12.53 in iPhone by Stephanie

Wicca_ThumbPreparations for iOS 7 continue; this morning I submitted the update to Liber Umbrarum et Lux.

As with PassGenR, this isn’t so much an update as a complete rewrite from scratch.

There have been some more typos corrected, a little bit of new content added, the Herbs section has been overhauled, and almost all of the photos and graphics have been redone.

All the same functions and features are there, plus a few new goodies. Primarily, better memory management and better code optimization. More noticable though is now it works in landscape orientation too, no longer just portrait.

The update has been sent to Apple, it’s just a matter of when it will get approved.

In the meantime, the current version is still available on the App Store.

Progress

Posted 2013.07.10 10.57 in Pointless Blather, Spiritual by Stephanie

So I know I’ve been rather quiet and un-bloggy lately and I now realize that from the other side of the screen, there’s no way to tell really if I’m hiding because things are really bad, or just busy because things are good.

It’s been a while since I made the No Progress post, and the biggest difference is that there’s actually been some progress.

Things aren’t all perfect, it’s not all hugs and kitties, but the oppressive soulcrushing depression has been beaten back and I’ve gotten myself busy with some projects which may or may not prove fruitful.

Interestingly, what changed was not as a result of drugs or pills. I stopped taking the HTP-5. The Melatonin worked for a while (but only when I really overdid it, eg. 20mg would knock me out, but the ‘normal’ dose of 3mg would not.) I ended up stopping with the Melatonin as well; after a few weeks I found I could fall asleep without it.

What seemed to catalyse the change was that I listened to the advice of several friends and tried getting back into some of the “spiritual stuff” that I had been ignoring for some time.

Paths

So with a little prayer, a little magic, and a little help from the Goddess and God, the darkness has been swept back under the rug and I’m currently doing ok.

I say ‘swept under the rug’ because the darkness isn’t gone. It’s just hidden away for now. Hopefully, I’ll be better-able to deal with it next time it starts creeping out into view.
